The decision was made after a PIL was filed that a 24-hour strike by the union on October 21 would cause a lot of difficulties for the public, said The Hindu. According to the petition, the ambulance service gets 65,000 calls everyday of which 3,500 are emergencies, and being Diwali, the numbers could go even higher, said the report.
