Warning! Women at Work. Turn around and go back if you can’t handle it

Written by : TNM Staff

If you’ve ever thought that women “can’t” do some stuff professionally, because, they’re well, women, then this ad from Tanishq, for its "work-wear" brand Mia, is a good slap in the face. The kind you use to wake someone up from a deep sleep.

For all the stereotypes – she slept her way to her promotion; she’s too loud, too bossy and brash; that 9-5 is the best type of job for a woman; she needs help to carry heavy boxes; she needs to dress appropriately; women who get married or pregnant will leave the company – this ad is a befitting answer: Most women are simply doing their jobs, and your outdated ideas are the last thing on their minds.

Watch it here:

Known to be far more inclusive when it comes to representing different shades of skin colour than other brands, Tanishq doesn’t disappoint this time around either either. There are dusky women who are part of the ad too.

But let’s face it. An ad is an ad is an ad. The messaging remains restricted to a certain class of woman who can afford its products - and who can, perhaps, choose not to get affected by sexism at the workplace. The feminism is skin-deep but we'll take it nevertheless
