In a freak incident Sunday morning, Mukesh (35) from Kurdiya, Rajasthan was saved from the clutches of an African Lioness after he climbed into the lion enclosure despite repeated warnings. He was later rescued by the animal keeper R. Papaiah.

Preliminary reports have suggested that Mukesh was under the influence of alcohol and works as a labourer for metro railway works. He was later handed over to the Bahadurpura police with accompanied complaint and records for further medical tests, inquiry, and subsequent action.

‪Zoo officials claimed that he was mentally sound but he had an unusual desire to shake hands with the lion. The zoo authorities managed to save the man by distracting the African lion pair.

The authorities at the Nehru Zoological Park are still trying to increase the safety measures and have appealed the public to follow the precautionary measures while visiting the zoo.
