For a country that’s been high on fairness creams for over three decades, this video documenting Indian attitudes towards black Africans shouldn’t really come as a surprise.

Towards the end of May, a Congolese national Masonda Olivier was beaten to death, a few minutes before his birthday in Delhi. The Quint spoke to people about what they think of people from African countries and what emerged is, clichéd as it may sound, shocking.

Among the many seemingly crazy things people believed is that “Africans” – never mind that there are 55 countries in the African continent, and that all “Afrcians” aren’t even black – are cannibals. Another unsettling moment occurs when man says that all Africans are a h***i, for no reason at all, in a matter-of-fact tone.
