Written by : TNM Staff

Take a stack of water bottles, a raft of recyclable foam and some carbon-free recycled rubber-- and voila, you get a chic yet eco-friendly pair of shoes!

As if that was so easy.

But San Francisco residents Stephen Hawthornthwaite and Roth Martin did exactly that to create fashionable and comfortable pairs for their brand Rothy’s.

Using computer coding and a 3-D knitting process, it obliterates waste to create virtually seamless, breathable and comfortable shoes that claim to battle moisture effortlessly.

Rothy’s prides itself for carrying out its environmental responsibility, and Martin puts it as, “Historically, green products aren’t very fashionable and I hope that we can lead by example. Comfort can be beautiful.”

Available in two variants- The Flat and The Point- these shoes are machine-washable and can be recycled after their lifespan exhausts. All you have to do is just send it back to them, free of cost, and they would recycle it back again.

The shoes however come for a hefty price- while The Flats cost $125 (approx. Rs 8483 ), the pointed shoes come for $145 (approx. Rs 9840).
