‘Be alert, prepared and confident’: This self-defence video by Delhi police is a must watch for all women

Written by : TNM Staff

Violence against women, especially sexual violence, is on the rise across the country today.

According to an analysis done by IndiaSpend, based on NCRB data, “as many as 2.24 million crimes against women were reported over the past decade: 26 crimes against women are reported every hour, or one complaint every two minutes”.

With a message for women to “Be alert, be prepared and be confident”, the Special Police Unit for Women & Children, Delhi Police recently uploaded a self-defense video on its Facebook page.

Crimes like abduction and assault are enacted along with practical self-defence techniques that victims can use to avoid getting hurt and to escape the situation. Self-defence can prove to be not just empowering, but is also viewed as a life skill by many.

While this may not be a one-stop solution for preventing crimes, it can definitely prove helpful in some situations.

The video has been shared close to 50,000 times.
