New Delhi: The Narendra Modi government has sacked the Lt Governor of Puducherry Virendra Kataria because of corruption and misuse of official Indian property for private gain.

This is the first such action by the new government against a political appointee of the previous government, UPA 11 by Manmohan Singh. In a late night announcement over the weekend by the Rashtrapati Bhavan, Kataria was informed that he was directed by the President of India to demit office with immediate effect.

Sources are telling The News Minute (TNM) that Kataria, a Punjab Congress leader, had employed his son and daughter-in-law in corrupt practices and that there is evidence of their collecting funds inside the Raj Bhavan in Puducherry.

The new government’s views and actions on Governors is keenly watched as one after the other, they offer their resignations to the new dispensation in New Delhi.

Sources are telling TNM a top secret letter from the Chief Minister of Puducherry to the Prime Minister, as well as another letter from the Chief Secretary to the Union Home Minister document have documented the scale and scope of the misuse in detail.

The President of India has also received a letter from a senior BJP politician about Kataria seeking to influence a court decision – something which has nothing to do with his line of duty and clearly speaks of political bias.
