Video: A man who came from Germany just to give hope to Paris

Written by : TNM
As Parisians gathered to mourn the death of 129 fellow citizens on Saturday outside the Bataclan concert hall after eight gunmen unleashed terror in the city, a German came there and played the tune of John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ on a grand piano.

The man was none other than 34 year old Davide Martello who came to the French capital earlier following the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January and played the same tune in solidarity with the Parisians.

Speaking to the Guardian, Martello said he was in a pub in his hometown of Konstanz watching the game between France and Germany when the match was interrupted by blasts just outside the stadium.

He said that he felt it was his duty to comfort and offer a ‘sign of hope’ which made him to take a quick decision to drive down 400 miles with his friend.

Martello who is also known by his stage name Klavierkunst had earlier performed in many conflict zones around the world with his grand piano including the Turkish demonstrations in Taksim Square in Istanbul, Maidan revolution in Kiev and the civil war in Donetsk.
