Twitter to stay like Twitter, real-time updates to remain, confirms CEO

Written by : TNM Staff

Amidst speculations of Twitter introducing a timeline based on an algorithm like Facebook rather than a real-time stream, Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey said the reverse chronological newsfeed is going to stay.

On Saturday, he made a series of tweets confirming the same using the #RIPTwitter hashtag.

Following some media reports which stated that the social media platform would showcase popular content on top of a user’s timeline to “solve some of the noise problem”, many users expressed their concerns such as how an algorithm in place might sideline some unheard voices using the #RIPTwitter hashtag.

Media reports claim Twitter is facing slowing user growth and achieved weaker than expected earnings in the last quater which resulted in a decline of 7% in share price.
