Top leaders attend wedding of Union minister Gadkari’s daughter

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari’s daughter’s wedding was solemnized in Nagpur on Sunday with many top leaders in attendance even as the planned visit of several others had to be cancelled at the last minute.

While Nagpur airport authority sources said that at least 28 chartered planes carrying VVIPs from various locations landed at the airport till 5 pm on Sunday, the office of the Union minister for transport and shipping maintained that only 12 chartered planes were pressed into service, according to a report by Pradeep Kumar Maitra in the Hindustan Times.

A source at the airport who did not wish to be identified, said that some of the chartered flights were cancelled at the eleventh hour.

According to a reliable source, chief ministers of at least four states were unable to attend the wedding as their plans were cancelled, the report adds.

“Most of them are expected to attend the marriage reception in Delhi on December 8,” the source said.

Union home minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president Amit Shah, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, Union urban development minister M Venkaiah Naidu, Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis and yoga guru Ramdev were among the notable attendees at the wedding.

The function was also attended by Maharashtra ministers Chandrakant Patil, Subhash Deshmukh, Pankaja Munde, Girish Mahajan, Sadabhau Khotkar and Girish Deshmukh, as per the report.

Gadkari’s daughter Ketki tied the knot with Aditya in Nagpur on Sunday.
