Taking a dig at Maggi, Baba Ramdev launches Atta Noodles

Written by : TNM Staff

Taking a dig at Nestle’s Maggi noodles, Baba Ramdev launched his own brand of instant noodles on Monday.

Priced at Rs 15, the yoga guru launched Patanjali Atta Noodles under his Patanjali brand. In an apparent dig at the trouble that Maggi was in until recently, the tagline for Ramdev's product says: “Jhat pat pakao, aur befikr khao” (Cook quickly, and eat without worry). The product is said to contain no monosodium glutamate (MSG) or lead.

Launched a week after Maggie is back on the shelves in Indian stores, Ramdev’s brand is competing in the same market and will be available in three lakh outlets in the nation, according to Zee News India.

The Ramdev-owned Patanjali group sells numerous Ayurvedic products such as creams, porridge, pickle, lotions, juices, and medicines. The group had recorded a turnover of Rs 1,200-crore in 2014 which is expected to touch Rs 2,000-crore in 2015.
