After furore over two videos circulated on Whatsapp of two women being gang-raped by men, the Supreme Court has decided to step in.
Earlier , Sunitha Krishnan had uploaded the videos on Youtube as she began a #ShameTheRapist Campaign. Soon after, her vehicle was attacked and the videos were taken off Youtube, as it violated its terms of service. The edited videos had blurred the faces of the women. It had also shown the alleged rapists smiling into the cameras.
The Supreme Court on Friday ordered the Central Bureau of Investigation to investigate videos of two gang-rapes that were being circulated on social media.
Even though the videos are believed to have been circulated six months back, no arrests have been made in the case. However, there have been some developments on how the videos were filmed along with a definite clue about the accused, reported NDTV.
