BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy on Friday wrote to Prime Minister Modi seeking a Special Investigation Team investigation against industrialist Ratan Tata for alleged money laundering.

Speaking to News 18 TV channel, Swamy said, “Ratan Tata must be investigated for money laundering regarding the setting up of Air Asia-Vistara.”

His latest comments come after Swamy told CNBC-TV 18 on Wednesday that he will submit a petition in court to ratify the claims mentioned in recently ousted Chairman of Tata Sons, Cyrus Mistry’s letter to Tata Sons board.

Besides questioning his “invalid” and “illegal” removal, Mistry in his “confidential” letter (which got leaked to the media), had said that “a recent forensic investigation revealed fraudulent transactions of Rs 22 crore in the Air Asia-Vistara deal”.

Swamy added that the establishment of AirAsia-Vistara deal does not comply with Indian law and the DGCA (Directorate General of Civil Aviation) should take cognizance of the letter by Mistry.

A day after the shock removal of Mistry from the position of chairman of the Tata Sons board and Ratan Tata’s temporary reinstatement, Swamy on Tuesday tweeted, “For the record--Rattan Tata is not a Tata. His father Naval was selected from an orphanage for the childless Tata. In 2G Rattan was Rotten.”
