Smriti Irani to look into 'mistakes' in MHRD letterhead, after Twitter user asks her about it

Minister for Human Resources Development Smriti Irani has said she will look into how the letterhead of the ministry had so many spelling misstakes, after a Twitter user tweeted an image of a letter sent to CBSE school teachers across the country.

Delhi Public School teacher Richa Kumar had put up a post on her Facebook page on August 11 pointing out errors in a letter of congratulations that she, along with other CBSE teachers, had received from the MHRD. However, her post had been shared around 800 times, according to NewsCrunch website, and she deleted it soon after.

Richa Kumar had pointed out errors in both Hindi (sansaadhaan/ sansadhan) and English (minster / minister) words on the letterhead of the ministry, and urged the minister to ensure that her staff were educated.

An image of the letterhead uploaded by Twitter user Saurabh Rai (@rai_saurabh100)

She said: “Thank you for congratulating me on the excellence I exemplify. However, having been a teacher for the last twenty years, your official letter head is an affront to my sensibilities as a Language teacher. The attached photographs are self explanatory. Please ensure that at least the people who work for you, in your ministry, are well educated.”

However several media houses reported on Kumar's Facebook post on Friday. The same day, Twitter user Saurabh Rai tweeted an image of the letter sent to Kumar, prompting HRD minister Smriti Irani to inquire into how the mistakes occurred.

In response to Rai's tweet along with the image, Irani replied:
