Even as India was celebrating the win of Sakshi Malik and the country’s first medal at the ongoing Rio Olympics on Thursday, P.V. Sindhu ensured another round of jubilation by entering the final of the women's singles event of badminton, assuring India at least a silver medal.

Social media instantly erupted after Sindhu's win, with many congratulating the 21-year-old from Hyderabad.

While many congratulated her and her coach Puella Gopichand, for being the main person behind her victory, there were also the enjoyable digs at Shobhaa De for her earlier comment.
