Usually authors and movie makers don’t wait too long a time before coming out with sequels.

However, 55 years is what it has taken Harper Lee, the author of ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’ to write a sequel to her hit book.

Eighty-eight year old Lee, has announced that she will be publishing the sequel to the novel this summer, reported Telegraph.

Did it take Lee over a century to write the book? It appears that the sequel which is to be released this year was written in the 1950s prior to the original story ‘To Kill a Mockingbird’.

However, the story of 'Go Set a Watchman' set about 20 years after the original book revolving around a grown up Scout and her lawyer father Atticus was left behind as Lee’s editor found the character’s childhood more interesting.

Wait, this isn't the most interesting part of the story.

Apparently, the manuscript for ‘Go Set a Watchman’ had been believed lost until Lee came to know that it had been found by a lawyer friend of hers, said the report. 

Lee’s editor eye for a good story paid off as ‘To Kill a Mocking Bird’ won the Pulitzer Prize and was even made into a movie making her the most famous one-hit book wonder, said the report.

The original story revolves around how both father and daughter try to come to terms with a trail that forms the main part of the hit story, To Kill A MockingBird.

Looks like 50 years isn't that long a time to wait for a sequel to come out.
