The Supreme Court will hear a PIL that challenges the government’s raising of the price of some live saving drugs such as those for diabetes, cancer, blood pressure among others.
According to a report in The Hindu, the Supreme Court has said that it would list the PIL for the coming week, as soon as possible.
M L Sharma, the petitioner has said that the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) had raised the prices of 108 live saving drugs in a circular issued on September 22, colluding with the pharmaceutical industry. The prices of these drugs would affects crores of people who were suffering from cancer, heart disease, high blood pressure.
