Finance Minister Arun Jaitley’s current allocation for the National Rural Drinking Water Programme (NRDWP) is less than half of what it has been in the last three years, according to Fact Checker India.

According to tweets it posted while the budget was being presented, the current allocation of Rs. 3,600 crore for the NRDWP is down by 63 percent over the previous’ year’s allocation.

Fact Checker watchdog website put out figures showing the annual budget allocation for the project for the last three years. In the three-year period, the amount allocated for 2013-14 happens to be the highest at Rs. 9,850 crore.

The United Progressive Alliance had allocated Rs 8,493 crore in 2011-12, and Rs. 9,450 in 2012-13.
