Former minister for women and child development Renuka Chowdhury has been booked for abusing a woman by her caste and for taking Rs 1.10 crore from her in exchange for a Congress ticket for the last Assembly elections held last year.
According to a PTI report, Hyderabad police registered a case after the Hyderabad High Court issued an order on the basis of a petition filed by B Kalavati, who has alleged that Chowdhury took money from her husband Ramji who sought a Congress ticket to contest the Assembly elections from the Wyra constituency in Khammam district.
The Telangana Police have registered a case of cheating and also under Prevention of Atrocities Against SC/ST Act against the Congress MP.
The woman said that Chowdhury abused hurled casteist slurs when she asked for the money to be returned. Chowdhury told the media that the case was bizarre and would fight it out legally.
