The News Minute | January 16, 2015 | 8:25 am ISTThe Haryana government on Thursday appointed yoga guru Ramdev as its brand ambassador in a hope to promote yoga and ayurveda in a big way. Health Minister Anil Vij, along with a delegation met with the yoga guru at Maharishi Patanjali Yogpeeth Ashram in Haridwar to consider the proposal, to which he agreed, a report in The Indian Express adds.Plans are being made to inculcate yoga in schools by imparting the discipline to physical education teachers and children alike.The Health Minister also added that the guidance of Ramdev's companion, Acharya Bal Krishnan would be sought and Yogshalas would be set up in villages too.Shri Krishna Government Ayurvedic College, Kurukshetra, will be upgraded to a university to promote ayurvedic education and refresher courses are also being organized for 550 doctors working in the AYUSH Department at Patanjali Yogpeeth.TweetFollow @thenewsminute
