Puducherry NR Congress leader booked for alleged sexual assault on minor

Puducherry police registered a case under Prevention of Sexual Offences Against Children (POCSO) Act against a ruling All India N R Congress functionary for allegedly sexual assaulting a minor girl on Saturday.

 According to police, the politician who is also a chairperson of a government board along with being a correspondent of the victim’s school allegedly sexually assaulted her for the last four years.

The accused was nabbed after the ninth standard girl approached the childline seeking their help. Following this, the Childline officials took up the matter with the victim’s parent and Child Welfare Committee (CWC).

It is only after preliminary inquiries and recording the victim’s statement on November 28, the Child Welfare Committee (CWC) forwarded the complaint to the Inspector General of Police, which was followed up by action by the local police.
