‘Proud of Armed forces’: Kharge, Rahul Gandhi praise ‘Operation Sindoor’

Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi expressed strong support and applauded the Indian Armed Forces following ‘Operation Sindoor’.

Applauding the Indian Armed Forces for its retaliatory strikes against nine terrorist sites in Pakistan, Indian National Congress party president Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday, May 7, wrote, “We are extremely proud of our Indian Armed Forces who have stuck terror camps in Pakistan and PoK. We applaud their resolute resolve and courage.” 

On May 7 at 1.44 am, India launched “precision strikes” under ‘Operation Sindoor.’ According to reports the attack was carried out in a joint operation by the Indian Army, Indian Air Force and the Indian Navy, in Bahawalpur, Muridke, Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Gulpur, Bhimber, Chak Amru and Sialkot.

The Congress president said, “India has an unflinching National Policy against all forms of terrorism emanating from Pakistan and PoK.”

He added that since the day of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Congress has categorically stood with the Armed Forces and the Government to take any decisive action against cross border terror. “National Unity and solidarity is the need of the hour and the Indian National Congress stands with our Armed Forces. Our leaders have shown the path in the past, and National Interest is supreme for us,” the statement said.

Similarly, the leader of Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi took to social media and wrote, “Proud  of our Armed Forces. Jai Hind!”

The coordinated strike was launched in response to the terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam in which 26 individuals, mostly Indian tourists, were shot dead. 

“We are living up to the commitment that those responsible for this attack will be held accountable,” the Indian Armed Forces said in a press release. The statement said that the strikes were “focused”, “measured” and “non-escalatory” in nature. They maintained that no Pakistani military facilities have been targeted. “India has demonstrated considerable restraint in the selection of targets and the method of execution,” the press release read.
