Priyanka Chopra becomes first Indian to win People's Choice Award

Actor Priyanka Chopra has won the Favourite Actress in a New TV series award at the People’s Choice Awards 2016 held in Los Angeles for her performance in ABC’s 'Quantico', her debut in American television.

With this, the former Miss World has become the first Indian actor to win an award at the People's Choice Awards.

After receiving the award, the 33-year-old actor tweeted thanking her fans who voted for her.

Chopra plays the role of Alex Parrish, a FBI agent who is later suspected of being part of a terror attack, in the popular thriller series 'Quantico'.

The other nominees for the award were several names from Hollywood and American TV like Emma Roberts, Jamie Lee Curtis, Lea Michele and Marcia Gay Harden.

The actor is also a recipient of the National Award and Filmfare Award in India.
