It has come to light that the Prime Minister's Office pushed private FM radio channels to carry the PM's program, 'Mann ki Baat'. In a report by the Hindustan Times, the newspaper apparently got access to some of the communications between the PMO and these private channels.

The communications show that the PMO had approached even AIR to broadcast the most recent Mann ki Baat, including other popular private channels. Officials from PMO even insisted that the DD network run the audio using appropriate visuals and even suggested that they have a running scroll during the show.

Although many of the channels refused at first, on the PMO's repeated insistence, they aired the program. Mann ki Baat, is a program where the Prime Minister reaches out to the entire nation through a radio program. It is aired in Prasar Bharati and runs approximately once a month and is heard by everyone across the country.
