Over the last 24 hours, Mumbai has seen the heaviest rains the city has experienced in over a decade. At least 16 people have died due to rain related calamities and among these, the collapse of a compound wall in East Malad has resulted in at least 12 casualties. Several stations have been inundated and the airport has also been flooded. A public holiday has been declared by the government.
