The Indian PM’s unscheduled trip to Pakistan recently to meet his counterpart Nawaz Sharif has left a private caterer there being denied due payment for serving refreshments during his visit.  

Ary News reports that Pakistan International Airlines has refused to pay the caterer a sum of 210,000 Pakistani rupees for serving a lavish high tea for PM Modi’s contingent when he made an unscheduled trip to Pakistan on December 25, 2015 for Nawaz Sharif’s birthday.

PM Modi broke all diplomatic protocols and went ahead with the trip and was received by Sharif and his cabinet at the airport on his arrival.

The TV channel reports that Pakistan’s national airline has asked the caterer to approach the Pakistani Foreign Affairs department.

After landing in Lahore, Modi had also joined Sharif for his daughter’s wedding at the latter’s ancestral home.

Incidentally, it was previously reported that Pakistan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) had received the payment from the airline.   

Modi’s visit came as a shock to most as he became the first Indian PM to set foot on Pakistani soil after more than a decade.
