An online petition wants Parliament to pass bill declaring Pakistan a terror state

Written by : Luke Koshi

Just weeks after the Uri attack that left 18 Indian soldiers dead and with sentiments running high, a petition has been floated that urges Parliament to declare Pakistan a terror state.

The change.org petition addressed to PM Modi, Speaker of Lok Sabha and Chairman of Rajya Sabha says that a joint session of Parliament should be convened on the first day of the Winter Session to ratify the Resolution and Bill moved by Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

The petition was started by advocate Gauri Neo Rampal on Wednesday.

On September 24, Rajya Sabha MP Rajeev Chandrasekhar submitted a Resolution to declare “Pakistan a terror state” and a private member’s bill “Declaration of States as Sponsor of Terrorism Bill, 2016”.

The petition states that two prominent lawmakers in the US have already introduced a bill in the US Congress to designate Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism.

An online petition in the US seeking to declare Pakistan as a state sponsor of terrorism has received the support of more than 1,70,000 people, the petition adds.

The petition also calls for specific steps like:

1. Sever all bilateral ties including economic and cultural ties.

2. Prevent all Pakistani aircraft and vessels from entering Indian territory.

3. Isolate Pakistan diplomatically and through economic sanctions.

4. Take suitable retaliatory or counter measures against Pakistan.

Here is the petition if you wish to sign and show your support.
