One militant killed in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district

One militant was killed on Thursday in a gunfight with the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district, the police said.

The militant was killed in Aragam Chitti Bandi village. 

"The operation is still going on," the police said. 

Security forces had surrounded the village on specific information about the presence of militants on early Thursday morning.

After the area was cordoned off, militants fired upon the security forces personnel triggering the gunfight.

A gunfight broke out in Jammu and Kashmir's Bandipora district on Thursday between security forces and separatist guerrillas.

The police said security forces surrounded Aragam Chitti Bandi village early Thursday morning following information about some holed-up militants.

The gunfight was continuing, the police added.
