Even as the news broke that RBI governor Raghuram Rajan has refused to seek a second term at the helm, reactions of disappointment are pouring in from corporate India.
In the days leading up to Rajan’s announcement that he will not seek another term, he was under fire from BJP MP Subramaniam Swamy for being a US citizen while heading an important institution in India.
Speaking to ET Now, Infosys founder NR Narayana Murthy said that he was “very sad” that India was not able to retain him.

“I am very sad that such a well-respected individual has decided to return. He deserves more dignity than what he was treated with. Have no doubts that he will continue to add value to the country."

Murthy refused to comment on what the Modi government could have done to stop him, but he said, “All I will say is that we need people from all over the world to improve the economy of India.”
“Even if I'm a green card holder, no one can question my integrity as has happened with Mr. Rajan. Mr Rajan is very patriotic.”
