As one half of the world watches what is the world’s biggest sporting event in Brazil, thousands of miles away another event has just occurred in Iraq with the ISIS declaring the lands and areas it has occupied in Iraq and Syria as a new Islamic state

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) has also called for a new era of international jihad and called on the Al Qaida and other Sunni factions to pledge allegiance. This is the first day of the holy month of Ramzan. The ISIS from now will be known as The Islamic State says the group.
The group has said that all jihadist organisations must offer support to Isis leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, declared Caliph of the new state.
