As a video emerged showing former Minister of State and senior Congress leader of Puducherry, V Narayanasamy allegedly holding Rahul Gandhi’s slipper before he cleaned his feet, the leader defended his actions by saying it was common courtesy.

He said, “I have lent him my slippers as a matter of common courtesy since he is a guest in my state.”

He also alleged, “The BJP are making an issue out of it,” and said that he was proud of the party’s Vice President as he personally visited the flood-affected areas while PM Modi only did an aerial survey.
