Comedy group All India Bakchod (AIB) got into a controversy last month after two of its co-founders, Gursimran Singh Khamba and Tanmay Bhat, were named in the Me Too movement. Gursimran was accused of sexual harassment by a woman. Tanmay Bhat was, meanwhile, criticised for being complicit despite being aware of allegations of sexual misconduct and harassment against Utsav Chakraborty, another comic named by several women in Me Too, and who had worked with AIB in a few videos.

While Tanmay stepped down from his position as AIB CEO in the light of the allegations, Gursimran was sent on leave. In a further development, the latter has now been dropped from the Amazon Prime series Gormint following the Me Too allegations against him.

Gursimran, who was the creator of Gormint, a political satire produced by AIB for Amazon Prime, along with talent and event management firm Only Much Louder (OML), is no longer associated with the project, according to an Amazon Prime official.

“Khamba is not attached to the project at this point,” Vijay Subramaniam, director and head of content at Amazon Prime Video India, told Reuters.

That being said, Vijay added that Amazon was keen on rebooting the show.

The Me Too movement has shaken up the Indian media industry. Many powerful men in Indian journalism, comedy circle, civil society, and film industries have been named. Some like Nana Patekar and Sajid Khan have stepped down from projects they were working on. Teach for India sent three employees on leave last month, after they were all named in the Me Too movement for workplace harassment and inappropriate behaviour.

As the second wave of the Me Too movement continues, even more women are coming out with more names and, in many cases, multiple women have named the same perpetrator, exposing the predatory nature of many alleged harassers.
