Man kills wife over a fight on Rs 1,500 that her brother gave on Rakhi

A 29-year-old man strangled his wife to death when she refused to give him the Rs.1,500 she had got from her brother on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Delhi police said on Monday.

Paramjeet Singh was arrested from the spot after a call was made to police by his neighbour in Geeta Colony area of east Delhi Tuesday night. The body of Ravneet Kaur was recovered from inside the house.

Police said Paramjeet Singh had confessed to the crime.

"He (Paramjeet Singh) told us he had demanded Rs.1,500 from his wife which she refused to give," a police officer said.

On Monday, Ravneet Kaur returned from her parent's house in Rajouri Garden area after celebrating Raksha Bandhan. Ravneet is survived by a two-month-old daughter.
