Kolkata transgenders inagurate a Durga puja pandal

A Kolkata association this year invited members of the transgender community to inaugurate the Durga Puja festivities, The Hindu reported.

Ranjitha Sinha, secretary of the Association of Transgender / Hijras in Bengal had sent two members of their association to inaugurate a puja pandal on Tuesday. 

Sinha told The Hindu: “When Durga Pujas are presenting plethora of themes on socially important issues, we are happy that at least one Puja Pandal committee thought about us.”
