Like it or not, you can be tagged on WhatsApp groups

Written by : TNM Staff

In its latest modification, WhatsApp has enabled users to tag members in group conversations, which means the tagged person will be notified even if he/ she has muted the conversation.

Like it or not, this feature was launched on Tuesday concurrently in iOS and Android platforms, while it yet to work on the desktop app.

The tagging works similar to that of experienced in Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, etc.  after typing ‘@’ and a popup box appears (even contacts which are not on your phonebook) and multiple persons can be tagged in a single message.

This additional feature comes close after the Facebook-owned cross-platform messaging app introduced text formatting and reply (quoting) options to messages in group conversations. This move is coherent to the constant updates specific to group conversations like increasing the group limit to 256 from 100.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp, which as one billion users, had added GIF support.
