In the wake of the murder of an Infosys employee by a security guard at the Pune office, the company has said it will hire an expert external consultant to review existing security measures.

It also said that it will review its employee deployment rosters as per a report by Neha Alawadhi and Jochelle Mendonca in The Economic Times.

Chief Operating Officer UB Pravin Rao in an email to Infosys employees, said that over 9,000 suggestions had poured in from employees on improving security at the workplace.

Infosys employees have been critical of the company for allowing one of its employees to work alone in an office on a weekend and the company has been trying to soothe frayed nerves.

“We understand that many of you are shaken by the incident and now feel like you have to be on guard even within our campuses. I want to assure each of you that our campuses will continue to be safe and that we have and always will focus on employee safety at our DCs,“ Rao said in the email.

Rao added that the company would provide laptops and extend its work-from-home facility in all situations where it was viable.

It may be recalled that Rasila Raju OP, a 25-year-old woman software engineer from Kerala, was allegedly strangled to death with a computer wire at Infosys's Pune office on January 29. Police arrested a security guard from Mumbai the next day in connection with the murder.
