Hyundai's new sedan to be launched in India will be called ‘Aura’

South Korean auto major Hyundai plans to launch a new sedan in the Indian market named ‘Aura’. This would be the second vehicle from the company to be part of the connected car segment, a first for the Indian market. Hyundai has developed its in-house technology ‘Hyundai Blue Link’. The earlier connected car from the Hyundai stable is the Elantra, a new 2019 version of the sedan.

The ‘Aura’ has been in the news for some time and the company has been testing the camouflaged model on the roads. A lot of features on this new sedan may be borrowed from the two new models introduced by the company, the new Elantra and the Grand i10 Nios.

The ‘cascading grille’ with a honeycomb mesh finish and the boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lamps flanking the grille will be seen. In the rear of the ‘Aura’, the number plate housing is shifted to the rear bumper. Hyundai Aura may be presented as one of the most stylish compact sedans in the Indian market yet and the company hopes that the customers will go for it.

The expectation is that the Hyundai Aura will be BS-VI compliant and will sport a Kappa petrol engine of 1.2 litre capacity and there may be a diesel option too. In the gearbox section, the company may offer the customers both manual and automatic transmissions as choices.

The South Korean company has put out a statement on the new model which states, "Hyundai Aura is a blend of modernism with comfort, safety, style and technology with convenience and portrays a confident, stylish, yet caring and protective individual's personality."

When launched, Aura will join 12 other models that Hyundai already sells in India, Santro, Grand i10, Grand i10 Nios, Elite i20, Active i20, Xcent, Verna, Elantra, Venue, Creta, Tucson and Kona EV.

Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire and Tata Tigor are some of the existing sedans in the Indian market that the Hyundai Aura will compete with, once launched.
