There was quite the noise on social media after users were unable to access websites dedicated to porn on Sunday morning. Netizens slowly realized that the move was one by the government and that over 800 websites have been blocked.On Monday, the Centre for Internet and Society (CIS) released the Department of Telecommunication (DOT) letter ordering internet service providers (ISPs) to block 857 websites.The letter mentions that the websites have been blocked as they violate “morality and decency” as enshrined in Article 19 (2) of the Constitution and found them in violation of Section 79(3)(b) of the IT Act.The letter says that “Department of Electronics & Information Technology (DeitY) has requested DoT to notify intermediaries (ISPs) for disablement of the following URLs under the provision of section 79(3)(b) of the Information Technology Act, 2000, as the content hosted on these websites related to morality, decency as given in Article 19(2) of the Constitution of India.”Here is the list of blocked websites: 2015 07 31 DoT Block Order Decency
