Kavita Karkare, wife of the late ATS Chief Hemant Karkare, was declared brain dead on Monday morning, by hospital authorities. 

Karkare had suffered a brain haemorrhage, following which she went into a coma. According to a statement issued by P D Hinduja Hospital & Medical Research Center, in Mumbai, her two daughters and son had donated the organs of their mother, for the treatment of needy patients.
