He is neither MP nor MLA: BJP slams invitation to Lalu for govt function

Written by : PTI

The opposition BJP today took strong exception to invitation extended to RJD President Lalu Prasad in a government function for start of work on a bridge over river Ganga on Sunday.

"What is the rationale of inviting in an official programme, a person who is neither minister nor MP, MLA and who is on bail from a court in a fodder scam case," senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi said in a statement in Patna.

"If Nitish Kumar is under so much of pressure from Lalu Prasad, why does not he accord status of 'Super CM' to Prasad?" he said slamming the state government.

The BJP leader asked Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to accord Prasad status of "super CM" which would provide him legal sanction to interfere in government work.

Prasad along with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was invited for start of work on Didarganj-Bidupur tomorrow. The invitation has been extended by Road Construction Department under Prasad's son and Deputy Chief Minister Tejaswi Yadav.

Sushil Modi, who is leader of opposition in Legislative Council, asked "if Lalu Prasad has been invited in the capacity of former CM than why the same was given to ex-CMs Jitan Ram Manjhi and Jagannath Mishra?"

He further questioned absence of name of Hajipur MP and Union minister Ramvilas Paswan and others of Patna district in the government advertisement for the function tomorrow.

Bidupur is in Raghopur Assembly constituency of Tejaswi Yadav and it falls under Hajipur Lok Sabha constituency represented by Paswan.
