Hardik Patel ups the ante, to launch political party?

Written by : TNM Staff

Hardik Patel, who is currently leading an agitation in Gujarat demanding reservation for the Patel community, will reportedly launch a political party.

According to a report in The Hindu, the party titled Patel Nav Nirman Sena (PNNS) will be launched in New Delhi on September 30, where it will also hold its first national executive meeting with Hardik as its president.

The report also adds that Akhilesh Katiyar, who handles Mr. Patel’s engagements in Delhi, will be the general secretary.

Protests took place in many cities and towns of Gujarat last week, leading to police caning and using tear gas on crowds opposing the detention and subsequent arrest of Hardik in Surat.

Hardik Patel, along with another 35 PAAS city convenors, were detained and placed under arrest under Indian Penal Code section 188, for flouting government orders and taking out a rally.

However, they were later released on bail.
