The Register, a UK based website reports that Hamas, the militant group in Gaza who are fighting the Israel government’s forces, took over an Israeli satellite channel for a brief period of time and broadcasted pictures of the wounded in Gaza. This incident took place on Monday.

Hamas gained control of Israeli Channel 10 and showed images of destruction from Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. It also carried messages that said more rocket strikes on Israel are on its way.

This is been seen as Hamas' move hinting at retaliation. "Your government chose the opening hour of this campaign. If your government does not agree to our terms, then prepare yourself for an extended stay in shelters”- the militant outfit's message read according to The Register.

Israeli broadcast authorities have confirmed that the channel was indeed taken over but terrestrial broadcasts were not affected, which means that viewers using digital converters did not see these messages.

Earlier Hamas had taken over Channel 10 and Channel 2, while the Operation Pillar of Defense, a week-long Israeli armed forces operation in Hamas-governed Gaza Strip two years ago, took place.

The last message that Hamas posted on Channel 10 was 'time is running out', state reports.
