Flipkart changes return policy, curtails window to 10 days

Written by : TNM Staff

Coming close on the heels of Amazon’s recent policy revision, retail website Flipkart has reduced the window for its return policy from 30 days to 10 days.

The 30-day return policy was apparently causing discomfort to sellers as they had to pay for all the logistical charges, including return shipping.

Sellers have now been asked to pay higher commissions which means that customers will have to pay more to purchase items on the website.

Prices on the website are set to increase by 9 per cent as a result of the policy changes. However, the company claims that sellers will now have greater control over their logistics.

Flipkart has also done away with its Zero+ commission policy. Under this policy, a specific group of sellers could advertise on the website for a fee but was not charged any commission.

The 10-day return policy will kick in from June 20 while the 30-day policy will still continue for some items such as footwear, watches, clothing.
