After facing a ban in Delhi on Monday after a driver raped a passenger, Uber is now facing problems in Europe too. A Dutch court has barred the use of the company’s UberPop ride-sharing service according to a report on TechCrunch.

According to the report the company is facing issues due to the lack of livery (uniform) licensing for drivers. The report also says that drivers of UberPop could face €10,000 for violating the order, while Uber itself could face fines of up to €100,000 per violation.

The other Uber services specifically UberBlack and UberLux have remained in operation says the report.

UberPop services allow any driver to register as an Uber driver. According to TechCrunch only a few days ago Uber had announced its plans of moving a large part of mobile engineering unit to Amsterdam by hiring developers working under a studio that looked after the Uber services.

Apart from Delhi and Amsterdam Uber is also facing bans in Toronto for a case of appointing drivers without proper licenses which according to municipal licensing standards jeopardizes the safety of the people, according to a report on the Globe and Mail.

They have also been banned in Nevada for providing unregulated transportation service and deliberately breaking the law to maximize profits, said a report on Lasvegassun.

The report also mentions that Uber refused to seek the licenses because it maintains that it’s a technology company and not a motor carrier.

In Virginia this year, according to the Daily Caller, the ban on Uber was lifted when the company agreed to help ensure safety of passengers, bring the company in compliance with Virginia Law, provide transparency into their operations and promote a level playing field for transportation providers.

Surprisingly, in all these places, Uber faces issues with regard to licensing and in every instance the company has tried to absolve itself by saying it is just a technology company.
