The News Minute| November 6, 2014| 2.30 pm ISTWith his land deals coming into scrutiny in the public sphere again, Robert Vadra, son-in-law of the INC party president Sonia Gandhi, is making moves to shut down six out of his twelve business ventures. The six agro-business ventures were all founded in the period between June and August, 2012, during the time of the UPA II regime. What were these companies doing? Not much information is available on any of these companies, and only GreenWave Agro has a functional, though threadbare website and the company was categorised under 'crop production' according to some websites that profile corporates.Out of these companies, Future Infra Agro Private Limited and Best Seasons Agro Private Limited are “Under the process of striking off”, while the status of the rest is “Strike off”, according to the Ministry of Corporate affairs on their website. Who were the company directors?Vadra was listed as the Managing Director on all of these companies, with his mother, Maureen Vadra, is listed as Director on Lifeline Afrotech. Amit Kumar Mehta is listed as the Director of the other five companies.Another controversial name that crops up here is that of Amit Mehta. Mehta first came under scrutiny when documents in the public sphere named him as a DLF nominee in the deals where land was assigned to the DLF group in Delhi by the Urban Development Ministry despite objections emanating from the Rashtrapati Bhawan. The list of the companies is as follows:Lifeline Agrotech Private Limited, which came into being on June 15, 2012Greenwave Agro Private Limited, which came into being on July 23, 2012Rightline Agriculture Private Limited, which came into being on July 31, 2012Future Infra Agro Private Limited, which came into being on August 3, 2012Best Seasons Agro Private Limited, which came into being on August 14, 2012Prime Time Agro Private Limited, which came into being on August 27, 2012All of the aforementioned companies operate out of the same address, 268 Sukhdev Vihar, New Delhi-110025. What also catches the eye is that the paid-up capital of all these businesses is a paltry amount of Rs 1 lakh, an amount which became infamous in the “land-deals” during the Bhupinder Singh Hooda Government in Haryana. Vadra has not closed all his companies, some are still active. A list of Vadra’s active business ventures is as follows:Sky Light Hospitality Private Limited which came into being on November 1, 2007Blue Breeze Trading Private Limited which came into being on November 1, 2007Sky Light Realty Private Limited which came into being on November 16, 2007Real Earth Estates Private Limited which came into being on February 18, 2008North India IT Parks Private Limited which came into being on June 19, 2008Lambodar Art Enterprises India Private Limited which came into being on July 7, 2005Among these, Sky Light Hospitality Private Limited was the one questioned in the CAG report, with the company making a profit of Rs 43.66 crore after selling the land in question to DLF Universal for a sum of Rs 58 crore. Considering the swiftness with which Robert Vadra has moved to shut down half of his listed business ventures, will we find the above list vanishing soon too?Read- 'It was not kissing fest, why a case of obscenity?' asks Arundhati, student of Hyderabad University
