The Economic Times newspaper on Wednesday carried a story on allegations of harassment against R K Pachauri, the Director General of The Energy and Resources Institute, commonly known as TERI.

The paper reported that a 29-year-old female employee of TERI had lodged a police complaint against 75-year-old R K Pachauri alleging harassment. The paper had reported on the contents of the 31-page complaint, and had included a response from Pachauri.

According to the ET report, the complaint stated that Pachauri and made physical advances repeatedly. But Pachauri had denied the allegations, and said that he was victim of hacking.

However around 11.43 AM Economic Times tweeted that the story link was being made unavailable. The tweet said, “The link to the RK Pachauri story has been removed following an injunction from the honourable Delhi high court.”

However, many Twitter users including media persons had already taken screenshots of the story, that was promptly circulated.
Though the newspaper bound by the court’s injunction, took down the story, social media users were under no such compulsion.
