Is this the end of bubble wrap that pops as we know it?

Written by : TNM
Fifty five years after Sealed Air Corporation's invention of 'bubble wrap' hit the market, reports surfaced that plans were ongoing to slowly phase out existing bubble wraps that pop, with a newer version that does not do so.
Titled 'iBubble Wrap', the new packaging is sold in flat plastic sheets that the shipper can later fill with air using a custom-made pump. The inflated bubbles look much like traditional bubble wrap but are likely to be a major disappointment when pressure is applied to the bubbles.
According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, traditional bubble wrap that was pre inflated was getting hard to ship as it took up a lot of room in delivery trucks and warehouse floors. The new wrap is only expected to use one-fiftieth of the space that its predecessor used.

Of course, childhoods were destroyed as people braced themselves up for a dystopian future. Reactions were diverse. Emotions ranged from anger, to curling up in a corner and crying.

However, after the initial scare, Sealed Air Corp clarified that the original Bubble Wrap would still remain in production and that the 'iBubble Wrap' was just a new version to offer, for the shippers to decide.
