The Shiv Sena says that there is no Modi wave in Maharashtra and that there is nothing wrong in its demand for the chief minister's post. In 2009, the party won just four Assembly seats but it is currently leading in close to 50 seats in a house of 90.10.40 am IST BJP not poised to form government in Maharashtra, sure shot at forming government in HaryanaThe exit polls seems to have predicted the Haryana results accurately, with the BJP set to form the government in Haryana. The party is comfortably leading in 47 out of 90 seats now.But in Maharashtra, the scene seems to have changed. The BJP's surge in numbers has slowed down and now the party is leading in 110 seats. With the BJP unlikely to secure majority, speculation has started that the party will open talks with the Shiv Sena soon.The BJP's vote share in Maharashtra seems to have increased considerably and stands at 31.5% now.10.00 am IST BJP not likely to get majority in MaharashtraThe Congress and the NCP are maintaining leads in more than 90 seats, making it difficult for the BJP to climb in numbers further. Fadnavis avoided giving direct answers to questions about him becoming the next CM. He repeated that the BJP Parliamentary Board will make a call. He also defended Gopinath Munde's daughter Pankaja Munde's comments that she will be honoured to become the next CM and said she was largely misunderstood. The MNS as of now is not gaining in many seats it had secured more than 10% vote last election.8.40 am ISTTrends show a lead for the BJP in Maharashtra, most reports show the party leading in 35-70 seats in the state. The Shiv Sena is almost half that number.In Haryana the BJP is leading, but the numbers do not reflect a clean sweepThe Assembly elections in Maharashtra and Haryana are important for all parties contesting the polls as the states may see the BJP wrest both states from the Congress-led alliances. Assembly elections this year saw the break-up of two long-standing alliances the Congress-NCP parted ways after 15 years while the BJP-Shiv Sena ended a 25-year-old alliance. In Haryana the Congress government lead by Bhupinder Singh Hooda is facing anti-incumbency, just as the Congress-led alliance in Maharashtra faces anti-incumbency after a 15-year rule.This year Haryana created history by recording the highest voter turn out in the state’s history. Exit polls have predicted the sweep for the BJP.
