Who actually discovered the Pythagoras theorem?
According to the Union Minsiter for Science and Technology, Dr. Harsh Vardhan, the credit for coming up with algebra and the famous Pythagoras theorem comes from India.
“Our scientists discovered the Pythagoras theorem, but we ... gave credit to the Greeks,” said Vardhan according to a PTI report.
He made the statement at the inaugural function of the Indian Science Congress in Mumbai.
Talking about algebra, the minister said, “We all know that we knew ‘beejganit’ much before the Arabs, but very selflessly we allowed it to be called Algebra. This is the base the Indian scientific community has maintained,” according to the report.
