Budget session to begin on July 7

New Delhi: The budget session of parliament will commence from July 7 and continue till August 14, said an official release Tuesday.

"Subject to exigencies of business, the session is scheduled to conclude on August 14," said a press communique of the Rajya Sabha secretariat.

The first general budget of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government is likely to be presented July 10 according to indications by Finance Minister Arun Jaitley in a media interaction Tuesday.

The rail budget will be presented on July 8 followed by the release of the Economic Survey on July 9.

Approval for the vote-on-account sought by the previous government ends July 31. The full budget must be cleared by the Parliament before the expiry of this period.
